Grounds for election

Laura is Head of Major Projects at Historic England where she leads significant heritage protection projects and programmes to increase public engagement with heritage. Most recently, this has involved developing the national blue plaques project to extend the value and success of the London-based scheme to the rest of the country. Previously as Head of the Emergency Funding Programme, she led a £95m programme to support the heritage sector to deal with the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Her work has also supported communities to maintain and repair their listed places of worship. Previously she worked at the British Museum for eleven years in the Department for Africa, Oceania and the Americas and on a commercial project advising on development of a national museum in the United Arab Emirates. Laura has conducted historical research on a voluntary basis for St. Alban’s Museums and pursues independent research into areas of prehistory, including rock art and cave archaeology, and
