Grounds for election

John Jenkins has made significant contributions to English medieval history, including pilgrimage studies. After DPhil research on Torre Abbey (Devon), his publications include: The Customary of the Shrine of St Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral: Latin Text and Translation (2022) and articles in many academic journals, including ‘Modelling the Cult of Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral’, JBAA, 173 (2020), ‘Time, Space, and Mass… in The Lay Experience of the Medieval Cathedral, ed. P. Kirby (2023) and ‘Northern Ways: Pilgrimage, Politics and Piety in the 14th-century Records of the Archdiocese of York’ in Church and Society in the Medieval North of England…, ed. S. Rees Jones and P. Dryburgh (2024). He has also contributed to several projects and exhibitions, including the Thomas Becket commemorations in 2020, and the Archbishop of York's 'Faith in the North' project, and a project to celebrate the City of York's Jewish story, involving developing and public engagement resources.
