Grounds for election

Stuart Prior is Professor of Archaeological Practice at University of Bristol, Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (MCIfA). His first job as a gravedigger inspired a lifelong passion for history and archaeology, as well as a profound interest in death and burial. This led to employment in professional archaeology, and eventually to a PhD on early Norman castles. He excavated at Berkeley Castle, Glous. for over 10 years, publishing on the excavations, and is now excavating, researching and writing on the Anarchy period for a Heritage Lottery Funded (HLF) project in S. Glous. Stuart also publishes articles on death, burial and the funerary industry and is a broadcaster specialising in heritage, castles, landscapes, ancient technology, death, burial and the funerary industry and regularly appears on the BBC's ‘Digging for Britain’ TV programme and was previously involved in the making of C4's ‘Time Team’ Programme.
