Grounds for election

Dr MacLean is a specialist in African and Arabian archaeology with over 30 years professional experience. She has directed numerous archaeological field projects in Uganda, Mali, Ghana, Ethiopia and Bahrain and has published extensively. Her notable publications include, as lead author: An Archaeological Guide to Bahrain (2011, Archaeopress), and as co-author: Temporalising Anthropology, Archaeology in the Talensi Tong Hills, Ghana (2012, Africa Magna Verlag) and The Islamic Funerary Inscriptions of Bahrain (2015, Brill). She has also authored or co-authored some 25 academic papers or chapters in edited collections. Dr MacLean has been the Honorary Secretary of the British Institute in Eastern Africa, Research Associate at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, Honorary Research Fellow at the Universities of Manchester and Exeter. Currently she is working on a collection of papers looking at the archaeology of irrigation in the Islamic World for a UNESCO sponsored volume.
