Ioanna Kralli is Assistant Professor in the History of the Hellenistic World in the Department of History, Ionian University, Corfu (Kerkyra), Greece. A Masters and PhD graduate of UCL, she has held a visiting fellowship at Princeton. Her publications include studies of Athens’ political relations with the kings of the Hellenistic age, as they emerge mainly from epigraphical testimonia; of continuity and change in Athenian political and military practice; of the political exploitation of Panhellenic games by Hellenistic kings; of relations between Argos and Sparta; and of Argos’s importance in the Hellenistic world. Her 2017 monograph ‘The Hellenistic Peloponnese: Interstate Relations’ sheds new light on many aspects of the peninsula’s geopolitics. Her current research is on the reception of Hellenistic monarchy and monarchs in the Roman world. Since 2020, she has been Director and General Editor of the Classical Press of Wales, a major publishing imprint for Classics.
