Grounds for election

Mike Hodder is a well-known and respected landscape archaeologist who has devoted his life to the study of his native Birmingham. Following successful completion of his degrees at Birmingham, the subject of his PhD being the archaeology of Sutton Chase, he went on to be employed by Sandwell Borough Council as an archaeologist. He was then appointed Planning Archaeologist for Birmingham City Council, a role that saw him monitor the redevelopment of the Bull Ring and many other critical areas of redevelopment in the city during the early 21st century. Mike also played an important role in the development and support of archaeology within the wider community through his involvement in CBA West Midlands and the Birmingham and Warwickshire Archaeological Society. He has written widely on the city in popular books and monographs. Although his work brought him into contact with many areas of archaeology, he is known for research into burnt mounds and, latterly, deer parks.
