Michael Cooper read history at Christ Church, Oxford, where he was Boulter Exhibitioner. He is a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Parish Clerks, Senior Assistant and Hon Archivist of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, and a director of the Plumbing Museum & Workshop Trust, Amberley Museum. Memberships: Royal Society of Arts, Royal Archaeological Institute, Archives & Records Association, Historic Buildings & Places, Friends of Friendless Churches, The Georgian Group, Oxfordshire Architectural and Historical Society, Oxfordshire Record Society, Friends of the City Churches, City Heritage Society, The Heraldry Society, St John Historical Society, Shropshire Archaeological & Historical Society.
