Grounds for election

Michael Bamforth is a specialist in the study of archaeological wood and past woodworking practices, with a particular focus on British Prehistory. Recent research output includes analysis of waterlogged wood assemblages from the Late Bronze Age site of Must Farm, and the Mesolithic site of Star Carr. Michael co-edited the most recent monograph presenting the results of research excavations at the Bronze Age site of Flag Fen. Michael has written or contributed to over 40 peer reviewed chapters and articles detailing research on waterlogged wood, reporting on material spanning the Mesolithic through to the Post Medieval period and all points in between. Michael is actively involved in field archaeology authoring over 200 grey literature reports, is a Research Associate at the University of York and sits on the ICOMOS UK wood committee.
