Grounds for election

Mary Nicholls is a heritage professional working in consultancy, archaeological fieldwork, geoarchaeology, community engagement and post-excavation. A Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and the Quaternary Research Association, she graduated with an MA in Archaeology from Edinburgh Uni and an MSc in Quaternary Science from Royal Holloway and UCL. She worked as a field archaeologist on key construction projects for leading contractors and undertook research and voluntary work in Spain, France, Albania and India. Mary went on to work across the UK as a geoarchaeologist, predominantly on river evolution, Holocene landscape reconstruction, deposit modelling and visualisation and contributed to technical guidance. Publication (journals, study series and popular books) and presentation topics reflect Mary’s interests, alongside public benefit and community engagement. Mary has led specialist teams in built heritage, archaeology, osteology and environmental science.
