Grounds for election

Professor Boehm’s research focuses on British literature of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Her particular interests include the relationship between literary expression and practices of knowledge production in other fields, such as antiquarianism, historiography, natural history, and the history of medicine; the history of the book and cultures of print; and literature and the visual arts. Professor Boehm co-edits the digital scholarly edition of the Society of Antiquaries’ Vetusta Monumenta. The edition web site (vol. 1) was launched at a study day hosted by the Society in 2019, with the second volume following in 2022 and the third expected at the end of 2024 at http://www.vetustamonumenta.org. Professor Boehm is currently a visiting Research Fellow at the Faculty of English, University of Cambridge (2024-25). Her monograph Tangible Pasts: The Novel, Material Culture, and the Making of Historical Knowledge, 1700-1830 is under contract with Oxford University Press.
