Grounds for election
Geraldine’s research interests are concerned with late Quaternary changes in climate, vegetation, and biodiversity in the Iberian Peninsula; the reconstruction of Neanderthal and modern human habitats and behaviour; and the underwater and on-land cultural heritage of Gibraltar. She heads the Departments of Heritage and Environmental Services, and of Education, at the Gibraltar National Museum, the Underwater Research Unit, and is Senior Tutor for the Nautical Archaeological Society in Gibraltar. She is a member of HMGoG’s task force on the drafting of heritage legislation, and Consultant to UNESCO in the preparation of a Global Strategy for the World Heritage list, with reference to the Asia-Pacific region. She has authored or co-authored over sixty peer-reviewed publications, and four books including Gibraltar at the end of the Millennium; A Guide to Wild Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar; Lost World: Secrets of a World Heritage Site; and Gibraltar: Geography, Nature, History, Heritage
