Grounds for election
Colin Thom is an architectural historian, Senior Research Fellow, and Director of the Survey of London, the leading authority on the architectural development of our capital city. The Survey is now part of UCL's Bartlett School of Architecture, where Colin also teaches. He worked in London Transport Museum’s archive before joining the Survey, where he has contributed to and edited Survey volumes for the past 30 years – including South-East Marylebone (2017), which won the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain’s Colvin Prize. Other published work includes Researching London’s Houses (2005) and Robert Adam and his Brothers (2019). He is currently working on an architectural history of UCL’s Bloomsbury campus and a Paul Mellon funded research project on Robert Adam’s Grand Tour letters.
Colin is also a Trustee of the Georgian Group, Member of the Council of the London Topographical Society, and sits on Westminster City Council’s Commemorative Plaques Advisory Panel.
