Grounds for election

David Brear is a leading member of the Yorkshire Archaeological and Historical Society, serving on its Management Board and on the Committee of its Roman Antiquities Section. He edits both the Society’s magazine (Briefing) and Roman Yorkshire (the Bulletin of the Roman Antiquities Section). In these roles he has had a transformative impact redesigning them, developing and enhancing their content, and himself authoring reviews, surveys of current research and publications. As such, he has made both essential sources of authoritative information of lasting value. He also initiated, and now helps run, the Society’s ‘Dates in Drawers’ project designed to provide financial support for museums in obtaining radiocarbon dates for otherwise-undated Yorkshire material in their archives.
