Grounds for election

Charles Orser is a major figure in the field of Historical Archaeology. He has held numerous academic and museum positions in the United States and has also taught in Ireland. He is currently retired, but previously was Research Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee (2013–2022) and Researcher and Senior Historical Archaeologist at TMHC, London, Ontario (2019–2022). Orser also once served as Curator of Historical Archaeology at the New York State Museum, University of the State of New York in Albany (2008–2013). He conducted numerous historical archaeology field schools in the U.S., Ireland, and England and is Founder and Editor of the International Journal of Historical Archaeology (1996–present) and Founding Editor of the book series, Contributions to Global Historical Archaeology (1995–2021). He wrote the 2nd and 3rd editions of the major text Historical Archaeology (2004, 2016) and is currently working on a fourth edition.
