Patric Dickinson, President, Society of Genealogists, and Master of the Archive, Middle Temple. Formerly Clarenceux King of Arms at the College of Arms where he also served as College Treasurer and Secretary to the Earl Marshal. From 1988 to 2023 he was responsible to the Earl Marshal for the ceremonial of the State Opening of Parliament and for twenty years was Secretary to the Order the Garter. In 2024 he was made a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. Patric Dickinson is a distinguished genealogist and currently President, Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives. He has served as Secretary of the British Record Society and President, Bristol and Gloucestershire Archaeological Society. He has published on the heralds and genealogy, the visitation of Gloucestershire 1682-3, the heraldry of life peers, the College of Arms and its quincentenary, symbolism in heraldry, entries for ODNB, and reviews for History Today, The Coat of Arms, and The Genealogists’ Magazine.
