Grounds for election

Diana Dethloff has lectured on late sixteenth and seventeenth-century British painting at University College London for over twenty-five years. She has published on seventeenth-century English portraiture, patronage and the art market, particularly on the collection of Peter Lely. From 1985 – 1992 she was Editor of the Walpole Society and in 2005 she was awarded, with Carol Gibson-Wood of the University of Victoria, Canada, a British Academy/Commonwealth Universities collaborative grant for research into picture and print consumption in London 1660-1720. ). In 2007 she was a Fellow at the Yale Center for British Art. She is also member of the Editorial Board of The Art World in Britain website. She is currently researching and writing, with co-author Catharine MacLeod of the NPG, a full catalogue raisonné of the paintings and drawings of Peter Lely, to be published by the Paul Mellon Centre and Yale University Press.
