Grounds for election

Tobit specialises in the conservation of wall paintings and in the diagnosis and control of environmental deterioration in historic buildings. His clients include English Heritage, the National Trust, Historic Royal Palaces and the World Monument Fund. He is a consultant for the Building Conservation and Research Team at English Heritage and an Advisor on Wall Paintings to the National Trust. His projects include Westminster Abbey, York Minster, the cathedrals of St Paul’s, Canterbury, Durham and Winchester, Hampton Court Palace, King’s College Chapel, Cambridge, the Chinese Palace in Oranienbaum, Russia, the Golden Temple, Amritsar and the Hypogeum Hal Saflini in Malta. He is a Fellow of the International Institute for Conservation and a corresponding member of the Cathedral Architects Association. He lectures on building conservation and publishes regularly. He has recently co-authored the Environment volume of the English Heritage Practical Building Conservation series.
