Grounds for election

During 44 years at the Fine Art Society from which he retired as Deputy Managing Director in 2005, Peyton Skipwith organised many exhibitions on British fine and decorative art from the mid-19th century onwards, including 'The Arts & Crafts Movement' (1974), 'Sculpture in Britain between the Wars' (1986) and 'Britain between the Wars' (2004). He was Master of the Art Workers' Guild in 1997 and in 2006 received the Iris Foundation award for the decorative arts. He has published widely and continues to be productive, on 20th century British art, particularly Edward Bawden and Eric Ravilious.
