Has established for himself a leading position in the Australian world of historic silver, with particular reference to Australiana. Has published widely, including contributions to 'Silver Studies' (the journal of the UK Silver Society) relative to the 'Collins caster, a Tasmanian survivor (1991), and 19th century silver in Australia (2003). Published research over many years in local journals (including 'Australian Connoisseur', 'Australiana' and 'Silver Journal of Australia) has included the 'King' snuff box (for the National Museum of Australia) and the 'Nettleship' Cup, previously unrecorded. Examiner to Government under the Cultural Heritage Act, Past President, Silver Society of Australia, Hon. Associate of Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.
