Grounds for election

Serena Cant is Assistant Maritime Designation Adviser and wreck database specialist for English Heritage, with responsibility for researching wreck sites for protection and curating English Heritage’s database of 37,000 shipwrecks in English waters. Serena has published England’s Shipwreck Heritage: from logboats to U-boats (English Heritage: 2013) an overview of a rich and diverse heritage on the English coastline. She has recently completed an assessment of naval battlefield sites for English Heritage and contributes articles across English Heritage’s publications both in print and online on maritime matters, including a blog intended to deepen public engagement with maritime heritage, and First World War engagement activity. She advises professionals and the public on maritime issues, with a specialist interest in wrecks in the built heritage. She has also been a contributor to innovative English Heritage projects on the Slave Trade, Women’s History and Disability History.
