Grounds for election

Derek Hamilton is a leading expert in the field of radiocarbon dating and Bayesian modelling in Britain, with particular interests in their application to later prehistoric settlement archaeology and developments. He led the dating programmes for several major Iron Age sites, including Broxmouth and Traprain Law Environs (E Lothian), Stanwick (N Yorks) and Sutton Common (S Yorks), as well as for many other sites in this and other periods. He is currently lead researcher for a new Leverhulme-funded study of the chronology of Iron Age settlement around Danebury (Hants), by the Universities of Leicester, Oxford and SUERC. Hamilton previously worked in the English Heritage Dating Laboratory, and has published extensively in monographs and national journals.
