Grounds for election
Dr Welham was Head of Dept of Archaeology at Bournemouth University (2009-2014). Her research includes the application of remote sensing techniques. An experienced archaeological surveyor with expertise in topographical survey, geophysical prospection, GIS and 3D scanning, she has directed numerous archaeological surveys on prehistoric & historic landscapes in the UK and abroad including Stonehenge, Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and Tanzania. Recent research projects include the Rapa Nui: Landscapes of Construction Project and Songo Mnara: Urban Space, Social Memory and Materiality. She is co-director of the Stonehenge Riverside Project (with the Universities of Sheffield, Manchester, Bristol & UCL). Kate also specialises in materials and production technology with particular reference to glass production in Northern Europe from the late 1st to early 2nd millennium AD. Recent projects include glass making at Glastonbury Abbey. She has published widely across all these subject areas.
