Christian Steer was awarded a doctorate by London University in 2013 for his thesis ‘Burial and Commemoration in Medieval London, c.1140-1540’ supervised by Professors Caroline Barron and Nigel Saul. One of his recent articles ‘A Royal Grave in a Fifteenth-Century London Parish Church’ in Fifteenth Century XIII. Exploring the Evidence: Commemoration, Administration and the Economy edited by Linda Clark (2014), identifies the gravesite of Katherine Plantagenet, countess of Huntingdon, illegitimate daughter of Richard III. Dr Steer is secretary of the Harlaxton Medieval Symposium, co-edited the 2011 proceedings on The Yorkist Age (2013), has contributed articles to other volumes in the Harlaxton Medieval Series, and additionally has published in Church Monuments and The Ricardian. Christian Steer is also the Hon. Secretary of the Monumental Brass Society and has lectured extensively on church monuments and brasses in the UK and abroad.
