Grounds for election

Professor Prescott has had a distinguished scholarly career. After completing a thesis on Judicial records of the rising of 1381, he has been a Manuscripts Curator, British Library; Librarian of University of Wales Lampeter; and Professor of Digital Humanities at Sheffield University and King’s College London. He is currently Professor of Digital Humanities at Glasgow University and AHRC Theme Leader Fellow. His interests include the history of libraries and archives and aspects of British social history from the Peasants’ Revolt onwards. He has been a pioneer in digitizing historic materials including, with Professor Kevin Kiernan, Electronic Beowulf (1999). Other publications include The Benedictional of Saint Æthelwold (2002) and as co-editor The British inheritance (1999) and London and the kingdom (2004).
