Internationally renowned leader underwater archaeological degradation processes and in situ preservation research. PhD 1996 Leicester Uni “Taphonomic processes in the marine environment”. 7 years research positions Centre for Maritime Archaeology, National Museum of Denmark. Secured over 3.5m GBP in research project funding 2003-2015. Collaboration with Universities, Museums and Heritage Agencies in 15 countries. Co-ordinator for laboratory and field research Reburial and Analyses of Archaeological Remains project 2003 to date. Management Committee member Denmark in EU COST Action 2008-2011. Principal Investigator EU FP7 project Wreck Protect 2009-2011. Principal Investigator, applicant and co-ordinator EU FP7 project SASMAP 2012 to date. Granted a research professorship from the Danish Ministry of Culture 2013. Supervision of PhD and Masters students. 100 scientific and popular publications in archaeological and scientific journals. Speaker at over 50 international conferences.
