Grounds for election
Kathleen Lynch is broadly recognized as one of a handful of experts in the analysis of ancient Greek pottery, who are attentive to archaeological context as well as the social context of the find-spots of ceramics. Her book, The Symposium in Context, won the Wiseman Award for best book from the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) in 2013. More recently she has edited with Tom Carpenter the groundbreaking The Italic People of Ancient Apulia (CUP 2014). Kathleen is also a brilliant teacher, having won in 2014 the highest teaching award from the University of Cincinnati. She has participated in fieldwork in Sicily, Albania, and Greece, at several different sites, and currently is a staff member at Gordion in Turkey and in the Ancient Agora of Athens. In addition to current fieldwork, she is preparing publications of historical finds from Pylos in Greece and from the excavations of a Greek temple near Apollonia in Albania. Kathleen is also an academic trustee of the AIA.
