Grounds for election

Prof. Kathryn A. Smith has made important contributions to the study of the art of fourteenth-century England. Author of The Taymouth Hours: Stories and the Construction of the Self in Late Medieval England (London, 2012) and Art, Identity and Devotion in Fourteenth-Century England: Three Women and their Books of Hours (London, 2003), she has published many articles in essay collections and major journals such as The Art Bulletin. She has also co-edited The Social Life of Illumination: Manuscripts, Images and Communities in the Late Middle Ages (Turnhout, 2013) and Tributes to Lucy Freeman Sandler: Studies in Illuminated Manuscripts (London, 2007). Prof. Smith is editor of the Brepols series, Studies in the Visual Culture of the Middle Ages, and co-editor of the Journal Studies in Iconography. She has received fellowships from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Endowments for the Humanities, and the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts of the National Gallery of Art.
