Has been closely involved with Fine & Applied Art, architecture &c for many years in a professional & private capacity. A member of Christie’s International Management Board (1990s) & management consultant. A passionate private collector for 40 years of 18-19thC furniture, mirrors, silver & paintings & has built up a significant collection of Flight & Barr factory Worcester porcelain. He has catalogued his porcelain collection & is writing a major book on it; his collection was exhibited at Strawberry Hill 2012-13. He also collects 17th-early 19th century Italian & French painted & fruitwood furniture, textiles & county maps of Lancashire. He is Chairman of the Works of Art Committee of the Athenaeum Club (2010-), responsible for its collections (pictures, prints, sculpture) & for oganising visits/lectures. He chaired for 10 years Committee responsible for restoration of Cleveland Lodge nr Dorking as the music centre for the Royal School of Church Music. Organist & choir master.
