Grounds for election

Professor Coningham has made a major contribution to the archaeology of the Medieval Period through his fieldwork and research. He has run major projects in Iran, Pakistan and more recently in Nepal. He is now making a significant contribution to the Heritage through his UNESCO work. He has published many papers and a series of books including: "Anuradhapura: The British - Sri Lankan Excavations at Anuradhapura Salgaha Watta" (3 volumes 1999–2103) and "Charsadda: The British - Pakistani Excavations at the Bala Hisar" (2007).
