Helen Lloyd is a senior Conservation Adviser, with 33 years’ experience and an international reputation in preventive conservation, developed for historic houses in the care of the National Trust. Her specialist interest is in achieving a sustainable balance between access and preservation, and the presentation of historic houses to the highest professional standard. She has been innovative in developing policy, advice and technical guidance, providing instructions and guidelines on housekeeping to enable the Trust and other historic house owners to care for collections in line with international best practice in preventive conservation. She has commissioned and carried out research and promoted that research within and outside the Trust. For 25 years she has been the author of many publications on aspects of conservation, including writing parts of the renowned National Trust Manual of Housekeeping and two reports for SAL on ‘Conservation for Access’ at Kelmscott Manor.
