Grounds for election

Prof Martin is an acknowledged authority on medieval art and architecture in Spain, having written extensively on San Isidoro, Leon, and has edited two volumes of essays, on medieval Spanish topics and on the role of women as patrons and makers of medieval art and architecture. The latter project attracted a major European research grant and has involved the participation of scholars from several countries in Europe. Prof Martin studied for her PhD at the University of Pittsburgh and taught for a number of years at the University of Arizona before moving to Spain to take up her current post.
