Grounds for election

Chair of RESCUE (The British Archaeological Trust), Director of the Stoney Middleton Parish Community Archaeological Survey, and co-director of the Tyre and its hinterlands archaeological survey (with Prof Kevin Butcher FSA). He worked in commercial and local authority archaeology before joining English Heritage where he directed numerous projects. Between 1995-2001 he managed the Anglo-Lebanese excavation/post-excavation team in Beirut, before working as a Project Manager for Albion Archaeology and then Wessex Archaeology (London). Since 2006 he has undertaken consultancy work, advising the Lebanese Council for Reconstruction & Development, The World Bank and The Council of Europe (Kosovo). He has made a major contribution to urban archaeology, published widely on this, including a major monograph in press on the Beirut Souks excavation and his current doctoral research on urban formation, and through his work at RESCUE and elsewhere he has made a substantial impact on the discipline.
