Grounds for election

Dr Rupert Goulding is a National Trust curator, responsible for properties in Gloucestershire, Bath and Bristol. He has a PhD in archaeology from the University of Reading, with a thesis on the palaces of Henry VIII. More recently he has researched extensively into the history of Dyrham Park, and its seventeenth-century builder William Blathwayt, holding visiting fellowships at the Beinecke Library at Yale, the Huntington Library, and Colonial Williamsburg. Previous substantial projects have included the development of new cover buildings and interpretation at Chedworth Roman Villa, the re-display of nearby Newark Park, and the acquisition of a major work by Cornelis de Heem for Dyrham, with funding from the NHMF and the Art Fund. He has led for the National Trust in collaborative partnerships with the Universities of Bath, Birmingham and Reading. Publications include articles on Chedworth, Dyrham and the Old Castle at Scotney, in Kent.
