Grounds for election

Dr Hambleton is a Senior Lecturer in zooarchaeology at Bournemouth University and an expert in the exploitation and social significance of animals and animal products to past societies. She completed her PhD at Durham in 1998 which investigated animal husbandry regimes in Iron Age Britain. She then joined Bournemouth University where she has worked on a range of animal and human osteo-archaeology research projects, completing assessments and reports on archaeological faunal material from a wide range of periods and sites around Britain and Russia. She has undertaken research and consultancy for leading archaeological field units, museums and government bodies, e.g. the review of Bronze Age and Iron Age faunal remains from Southern England commissioned by English Heritage. She is programme leader for the innovative MSc in Osteo-archaeology and is co-leader of a project investigating the social, political and economic landscape of the Durotriges in later Prehistoric and Roman Britain.
