Timothy Boswell comes from a farming family. His interests steered him towards politics, where he served for 23 years as MP for Daventry(including time as Universities Minister), and for the past 5 years in the Lords, where he is an Officer and Chairs the European Committee. He was active in retaining the Cartwright Archive in the UK and was founder-Chairman of the Parliamentary Archives Group. In Northamptonshire, he is currently a Deputy Lieutenant, Chairs the County VCH Trust, and is President of the Northants Record Society
