Grounds for election

Dr Beccy Scott is a Palaeolithic researcher working for the Department of Britain, Europe and Prehistory at the British Museum. Her internationally recognised research focuses on the archaeology of Neanderthal populations in northern Europe. This work has been published in academic papers and, in 2011, the publication of a book, Becoming Neanderthals. Dr Scott was a core researcher in the Ancient Human Occupation of Britain project and continues to lead research on the occupation of Britain as part of the Pathways to Ancient Britain project. Since 2010 Dr Scott has been organising field and archive research on the Channel Island of Jersey, including a renewed study of material from the site of La Cotte de St Brelade and the reorganisation of its considerable archive. In 2015 she co-curated a major exhibition (Jersey: Ice Age Island) with Jersey Heritage. Dr Scott is also recognised as being an expert in Palaeolithic fieldwork, both research and commercial contexts.
