Grounds for election

After a varied career, Dr Sue Berry left full-time work as a Principal Lecturer in the University of Brighton Business School specialising in heritage tourism to masters level. Her published research has centred on the development of seaside resorts, with Sussex as her main testing ground, and on the history of landed estates. For 40 years she has also been teaching around these topics to adult audiences, initially through the University of Sussex's now-closed Centre for Continuing Education. Formerly a trustee of the National Trust and of the Sussex Archaeological Society, she remains interested in practical uses for historic sites and landscapes which help to preserve them. She continues to lecture and organise conferences, and is writing mainly on the consequences for the landscape of the interactions between fashions such as resorts, clients and their architects and between landowners and their tenants.
