Grounds for election

Chantal Conneller did her BA and PhD at the University of Cambridge. She held a research fellowship at Queens' College, Cambridge between 2001 and 2004. In 2005 she was lecturer in Prehistoric Archaeology at the University of Wales, Bangor. She was appointed to Manchester in 2005 and promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2010. She has served on the council of the Prehistoric Society and on the expert panel for the English Heritage Mesolithic Research and Conservation Framework. Her work on theoretical approaches to technology and materials, resulted in a book An Archaeology of Materials (Routledge 2011). Since 2004 she has co-directed excavations at Star Carr. She is also a co-director of the Ice Age Island Project, which is responsible for survey and excavation of a number of Palaeolithic and Mesolithic sites on Jersey., and she co-directs work at Ffynnon Beuno Cave, Denbighshire, investigating a settlement of some of the last Neanderthals and earliest Homo sapiens in western Europe.
