James Ede followed his Father into Charles Ede Ltd. in 1978 after Westminster and Oxford. Founder Member & Chairman IADAA. UK Illicit Trade Advisory panel. Valuer for Portable Antiquities Scheme. He has devoted much time to the encouragement of ethical trading in the field of ancient art and has published a number of papers on the subject and taken part in numerous conferences. Ede is an official valuer for the Commonwealth of Australia. Many catalogues of ancient art have been published under his auspices which preserve provenance. He has done much work in the Portable Antiquities Scheme and has worked tirelessly to encourage co-operation with academics.
