Grounds for election

Victor Buchli is a leading figure in anthropological material culture studies, specialising in the connections between Archaeology, the history of modern Architecture, and Anthropology. Having trained at Berkeley, Columbia and Cambridge, he was Research Fellow at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge before taking up a Lectureship in Anthropology in 1999 (Readership 2003, Professorship 2015). He has published 7 books since 1995, including An Archaeology of Socialism (Berg 1999), Archaeologies of the Contemporary Past (Routledge 2001, ed. with Gavin Lucas), and most recently An Anthropology of Architecture (Bloomsbury 2013) and An Archaeology of the Immaterial (Routledge 2015). His many professional roles have ranged from the founding editorship of the journal Home Cultures (2003-) and membership of English Heritage's "Change and Creation" project on 20th-century heritage (2004-7) to (from 2016) membership of the Advisory Board of the Victoria and Albert Museum Research Institute.
