Grounds for election

John Wells is a long-serving curator in the Department of Manuscripts at Cambridge University Library, where he has prime responsibility for the library's collections of nineteenth-and twentieth-century literary and historical archives and manuscripts. His numerous publications include exhibition catalogues (he has been a key figure in the library's exhibition programme since 1995), and articles on matters as diverse as Thackeray and the archives of the bankers Jardine, Matheson. He has been a committe member of the Group for Literary Manuscripts and Archives for the last ten years, and has served on the Advisory Committee of the Brotherton Collection at Leeds University since 2009.
