He has worked at the V&A, the Royal Collection, the Holburne Museum, and the Ashmolean and has contributed widely to catalogues, exhibitions, and more permanent displays, especially in the fields of silver, furniture, and court culture. His publications include the standard Guide to Windsor Castle (co-author), contributions to the catalogue of the exhibition on George III and Queen Charlotte at The Queen's Gallery, and the recent book on the Wellby collection of Continental Goldsmith's work at the Ashmolean (co-author). He is Honorary Newsletter Editor for the Furniture History Society and a Council member of the Furniture History Society, the Silver Society, and the Decorative Art Society.
