Grounds for election

The candidate has been since 1995 a member of the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne, serving on its Library, Publications, Executive committees and its Council as Vice President and President-elect. He is leading the digitisation of the Society’s journals Archaeologia Aeliana and Proceedings, making research available to all. He is a member of the Northern Architectural History Society, the North East Vernacular Architecture Group and Whickham Local History Society (as secretary). His publications include articles in Architectural History, the Georgian Group Journal, and Archaeologia Aeliana. He has given conference papers and lectures on architectural history to many groups. His doctoral thesis explored the development of the architectural profession in provincial Georgian Britain. He is a professional librarian of 20 years’ experience in public and academic libraries, managing print, digital and archive collections to support education, research and public engagement.
