Grounds for election

Peter Lindfield, currently an AHRC-funded postdoctoral fellow at the University of Stirling, is an extraordinarily energetic scholar of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century visual culture. His particular interests lie in architecture, furniture and heraldry, but he has many other strings to his bow, and knows a great deal about medieval art and architecture as well. Peter has a MA, a PhD and a postgraduate certificate in Museum and Gallery Studies, all from the University of St Andrews. His doctoral thesis, entitled 'Furnishing Britain: Gothic as a National Aesthetic 1740–1840', is a major work of scholarship, and will be published as a monograph by the Boydell Press in 2017. He has an edited volume to his name (Rule Britannia?: Britain and Britishness 1707–1901 (Cambridge Scholars, 2015)), another under contract with the British Library, and some twenty articles and chapters in books and journals. Peter is an up-and-coming scholar destined to make a very large contribution to his field.
