Dr Wragg Sykes is a palaeolithic archaeologist researching issues of hunter-gatherer mobility in the Quaternary Period. Active in fieldwork since 1996, including in the Quaternary Archaeology of Jersey 'Ice Age Island' Project, she has published widely in peer-reviewed books and journals on this topic, and has also won grants and awards for such fieldwork. Dr Wragg Sykes is one of the co-founders (in 2013) of 'TrowelBlazers', a project that highlights the historic and present-day contributions of women to archaeology, palaeontology and geology. This work has won widespread acclaim and significant media attention, linking in with wider 'Women in STEM' campaigns and actions. Trowelblazers have engaged in multiple outreach projects, including working with a performance artist, the Palaeontology Society, British Science Week, co-creating the award-winning 'Fossil Hunter Lottie' palaeontology action figure, and giving numerous public talks and media presentations
