Grounds for election

M.F.-G. focuses on the study of the European Iron Age and the Roman conquest. As 'wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter' he directed fieldwork at the Heuneburg (Germany); and now works at the oppidum of Monte Bernorio (Spain). His 100+ publications include articles in Antiquity, European Journal of Archaeology and Oxford Journal of Archaeology; his books as author or editor are Identity and Power: The transformation of Iron Age societies in northeast Gaul (2014), La construcción arqueológica de la etnicidad (2008), Paths to Complexity: Centralisation and Urbanisation in Iron Age Europe (2014), and Persistent Economic Ways of Living. Production, Distribution, and Consumption in Late Prehistory and Early History (2015). He was appointed Chancellor’s Fellow in Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh in 2013, and in 2015 was elected an Executive Board Member of the European Association of Archaeologists.
