Grounds for election

Dr Basell has undertaken research on the Lower Palaeolithic archaeology of south west England, and carried out excavations of Early to Middle Stone Age sites in Kenya and Uganda. Her particular research specialisms are in lithic analysis, and landscape change. She has published twenty academic papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Quaternary Science Reviews and Journal of Human Evolution, and has co-edited two books. She has been the Chair of the Lithic Studies Society (2012-14). She was appointed to a Senior Lectureship in Quaternary Environments and Geoarchaeology at Oxford Brookes University, then obtained a Senior Lectureship in Palaeoanthropology at Bournemouth University and now is a Lecturer in Palaeolithic Archaeology at Queen's University Belfast.
