Grounds for election

Professor Boin has directed excavations at Ostia, and has published widely on those excavations. He uses a wide variety of sources to analyze and critique our understandings of Late Antiquity. He has published two monographs, one with Cambridge University Press, and is presently working on transformations of the Roman imperial cult. He has published articles in Papers of the British School at Rome and the American Journal of Archaeology. He has received numerous teaching awards in his short time at Saint Louis University. Professor Boin has been extremely active with the United States State Department in combating the black market trade of antiquities, and has testified at a number of State Department hearings on the subject. Professor Boin is an outstanding colleague, and I would be honored to see him as a Fellow of the Society. He will represent the Society well, and will be an active member.
