Landscape archaeologist studying Cornwall & Britain. Post-graduate research on Bodmin Moor. Spent 22 years as a Principal Archaeologist with Cornwall Archaeological Unit (CAU monographs include St Michael's Mount, Godolphin, Kit Hill & Launceston). Former editor of 'Cornish Archaeology'. Developed historic landscape characterisation methodology & joined English Heritage Characterisation Team, 2007. Head of Assessment at EH (later Historic England), 2011-16; currently Head of Historic Places Investigation S & W at HE. Co-wrote and edited 'Bodmin Moor Survey, vol. 2, Industrial & Post Medieval Landscapes' (2008). Has published widely on prehistoric monuments, settlements, fields & commons, medieval farming (strip fields, longhouses, hamlets & transhumance), deer parks, designed landscape; orchards, turf cutting, tinning & quarrying. Authored numerous reports, especially on Cornish places, from Altarnun to Zennor. On Board of Landscape Research Group. Leads Bodmin Moor Archaeology Week.
