Member of IIC, and Accredited Member of ICON metals. Member of the main Arms and Armour organisations. 2003 to date: the Queen’s Armourer, The Royal Collection Trust. The Trust’s Senior Metals conservator 2003-12. V&A Metals Conservator: 1995-2002, Royal Armouries: Conservator 1993-95, The Wallace Collection: Conservator 1991-3 Simon Metcalf has been responsible for conserving and displaying the Royal Collection of Arms and Armour, with considerable input into the newly published Catalogue Raisonné. He is responsible for the new, purpose built, Arms & Armour workshop at Windsor Castle. He has researched and lectured widely, has published extensively, and has organised major conferences.
